Yea, us too. We’re all about The Clipse, and stoked on this evidence that their new album, Hell Hath No Fury might actually come out some day. Rap nerdery after the jump. Pusha T and Malice have had a pretty rough career. First, their debut album, Exclusive Audio Footage was shelved back in 1997 because the world was not ready for an album full of Neptunes beats. They came back with Lord Willin’ in 2002, and made an anthem out of a beat made from smashing garbage cans and that annoying clicking sound your 7 year old brother does every time you’re in the car with him for longer than 10 minutes. They even got on radio singing about “selling yay” with Justin Timberlake (and arguably started the commercial cocaine rap phenomenon). Their follow up was originally slated for a 2004 release, but Jive was too busy preparing paperwork for Mobb Deep to notice. Clipse got a bit impatient, and started pumping out their critically acclaimed We Got it 4 Cheap mixtape series. The latest, We Got the Remix has been burning up my iPod for a minute. Holy crap, apparently I can talk forever about these guys. This is kind of scary. I probably know more about them than I do about my father. Bummer. Anyway, the album is slated for August 9th (how did they beat Skateboard P to market!?). The video for their new single Mr. Me Too has been leaked, and you’ll find it in the podcast. Speaking of Mr. Me Too, am I the only one that thinks this looks just like the Hype Williams video for Lil Jon’s “Snap Yo Fingers”? Yea, R. Malcolm Jones too. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go call my dad. Fun fact: In 2001, Clipse appeared all over the Philly’s Most Wanted record, but were billed as Terrah and Malice. Did that record even come out in Los Angeles? Shit, I sound like Wikipedia. Whatever. Podcast: Clipse - Mr. Me Too |
