| Tusked And Confused | Music, Los Angeles, London |
So this month’s issue of Dazed And Confused, (Sofia Coppola cover, issue 43, Nov 06 for those taking notes) features a killer piece on edIT, the Silverlake based hip hop producer and DJ known for his glitchy-beastmaster steelo. I dunno if he has the same power grip as him or him, but his re-edits are pretty spastastic. Anyways what’s funny is that the piece was written by our boy Terence from London’s Patchwork Pirates with the photo shot by RJ Shaughnessy from LA… As seen from the right hand side over yonder, both dudes are Rabbit Tusk fam but never knew they would both be gracing the page as, well, credit buddies. Weird huh? Or is that just how they roll… Go cop a copy, it’s some air raid shIT. |

| Brother Reade and Wu-Tang… | Music, Los Angeles, North Carolina |
Whirlwind week. If you were among the lucky, you were in Echo Park during the fuck yeah fest. We were, and I had the pleasure of catching Issei Sagawa and Future Pigeon (scroll down to aug 19th on the link) on Friday night. On Saturday we played at the Echo with Foreign Born, The Rolling Blackouts, and Yayo Ming, to a club packed full of friends and flashbulbs. Directly after the set we hopped in Desert Eagles’car and headed straight to LAX (the airport, not the club), with our inexhaustible documentarian Rolls Joyce Shaughnessy in tow. The red-eye was devoid of crying babies, but my adrenal levels were a bit too high post-stage and pre-wutang to really get much meaningful sleep. We landed and went straight to brunch, being the southern boys (ballers) that we are. If you don’t know about the grits at Mary’s Of Course you better ask somebody. After an hour nap or so, we were in time for load-in, and were still on an energy rush when we took the stage. Bobby Evans was in killer form and I kept pretending it was “singing in the shower”. I felt like we gave the crowd a very good example of “how the fuck we do”. It’s something to play a show for a bigger crowd than you ever really have before, and it’s really something to open up for one of the most seminal rap-groups of all time, but to do both of those things in your hometown at such a rad venue definitely exceeds my capabilities for description. As for the Wu-Tang Clan’s performance? They absolutely killed it. Dead. |

| Day19 complaining about the good life. | Photo, Los Angeles |
This summer has been by far the busiest we’ve ever had. I’ve been on more airplanes in the last 4 months than I have probably been on in the last 10 years. Needless to say we haven’t had much time for the Los Angeles summer activities we have come to love so much. So when you get a text message on Friday that says “It’s on, Waterball Sunday @ 1″ and you are actually home for the weekend it’s hard to contain the excitement for 2 days. Here’s some photos from that day. All the regulars plus a Louise who was visiting from NY. |

| Pretty Tony and Ricky Ross | Music, Los Angeles, Whatever |
Last Saturday Ghostface and Rick Ross played an intimate show to about 35 people myself and crew included. Ricky stepped onto the foot high stage and played first, all smiles and lemonhead piece blazing. Dude was real happy to be alive, he played both singles and a heavy sampled, Push it to the Limit Jam and bounced. Ricky didnt seem to care that no one was there and kinda laughed through it. In between sets James ran into Roc La Familia’s newely signed Tru Life and together they openly dissed The Diplomats on BET’s Beef. Stay tuned to Youtube for updates while we watch our backs. Dipset! Ghostface came out with Killa Priest and Prodigal Son of Sons of Man. Together they crushed through several Wu-Tang jams with each trading off on absent Wu-Tang members verses. Plenty of Iron Man, Pretty Tony and Fishscales jammers were included. Ghost thought it was funny there were only 35 people there but still killed it. Over all it felt like a small Avail house show in North Carolina. Everyone that played seemed stoked to play and everyone that watched was like,”Dude Avail is totally playing in my living room.” No big deal… |

Rueters don’t lie… Yuri Fialko, of the Scripps Institution of Oceanography at La Jolla, California, said that given average annual movement rates in other areas of the fault, there could be enough pent-up energy in the southern end to trigger a cataclysmic jolt of up to 10 meters (32 ft). “The observed strain rates confirm that the southern section of the San Andreas fault may be approaching the end of the interseismic phase of the earthquake cycle,” he wrote in the science journal Nature. A sudden lateral movement of 7 to 10 meters would be among the largest ever recorded. Full story after the jump. |

| Where My Killah Tape At? | Music, Los Angeles |
I was driving over to 33third the other day (the used vinyl selection is kind of bananas but keep that hush), and some posters caught my eye. Rick Ross and Ghostface on July 18th?! In Los Angeles?! For real!? The only other words I could make out on the poster were “Give 4 Hours, Get 1 Ticket”. A free show? My wallet can definitely mess with that. Full details after the jump (big ups to Google). Podcast: Nelly Furtado - Promiscuous Remix ft. Rick Ross |

Saturday night was the celebration for the tusk futsallers at ADM project space across from Hollywood Forever. Tons of good dudes and chicks made the scene. It was hotter than hanzel all night despite a wall of open windows and a flock of electric fans. Brother Reade was reunited after a three week hiatus in Asia because Jael, like Dave Chappelle “had to get out of town to figure some things out.” Spank Rock came through after the spaceland show. Berra and George, among others, were calmly trying to convince everyone that their victory was no big deal. I don’t believe them. Thanks to all who came. Much more after we jump! |
