A Day in the Life. Photo, Los Angeles

This guy. What can you say about this guy? He is largely responsible for giving us our soundtrack to the summer. Him and of course Mr. Bobby EvansEvolution Summer 2007 some may say. Anyway, Brother Reade threw a picnic in the park so we could all celebrate the release of “Rap Music”. They had a proper record release show as well the night before here, but it was a bit too harsh Hollywood for us personally so we broke out after their incredible performance. It’s summer, so go outside and have a picnic/BBQ, and maybe “Rap Music” will be the soundtrack.

L’Équipe Nautique Photo, Events

Thursday night at La Cita was a brilliant time, drinks were had, jams were played, and Tusk friends BR brought back some A-game from a recent trot to NYC. Love, Jetsy co-ordinated the event and furnished gift bags of “sky pager major” calibre (ladies, do yourself a favor and check out their fall line including an unlimited edition Brother Reade canvas tote that we can’t help but love).

Love and thanks to the Serato Jockeys: DJ Pubes, Shepard Fairey, and Jessica McMenamin were forcefully reminding attendees to dance right between drinks with unrelenting tunes until last call. Congrats to Love, Jetsy btw, for their feature in daily candy. Perhaps we were celebrating too early? I guess that means we’ll have to have another party. Can anyone furnish an excuse? “I Do Adore” is an exhibition of emerging and well established women photographers from across the world. Each of the featured artists have created names for themselves through various outlets from books to magazine features to exhibitions to ad campaigns. One thing that each of these women have in common is their passion and talent for photography. Their styles range from street documentation to editorial, fine art to photo journalism and portraiture. In a fusing of all these different styles from such influential photographers, “I Do Adore” brings with it all the character and emotion that these artists have captured from behind the lens. Every photographer that was invited to be a part of this exhibition has shown the exceptional ability to find the hidden energy within a setting and bring its image to life.

“I Do Adore” originally showed @ Subliminal Projects in Los Angeles and is now travelling to Portland, Oregon. It features the same artists and welcomes Portland based artist Liz Haley. We are all very excited to bring this show to Portland and The Renowned Gallery.

96 Gillespie. London folks, London. Photo, London, Artsy

Yesterday we took a short tube ride to the Arsenal stop to check out Angela Boatwright’s Sorcerers photo show at 96 Gillespie not knowing it was run by Pat Graham and his wife Melanie. We’ve been familiar with Pat’s work for a long time now and it’s funny to finally meet him half way across the globe. Check out photos of this great gallery he runs out here, and if you are ever in London be sure to stop by and say hello. They may even offer you some tea if you’re lucky.

Day19 complaining about the good life. Photo, Los Angeles

This summer has been by far the busiest we’ve ever had. I’ve been on more airplanes in the last 4 months than I have probably been on in the last 10 years. Needless to say we haven’t had much time for the Los Angeles summer activities we have come to love so much. So when you get a text message on Friday that says “It’s on, Waterball Sunday @ 1″ and you are actually home for the weekend it’s hard to contain the excitement for 2 days. Here’s some photos from that day. All the regulars plus a Louise who was visiting from NY.
